DALLAS (AP) -- Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki has been suspended for one game for a flagrant foul in a game against the Utah Jazz.

Stu Jackson, the league's executive vice president for basketball operations, announced the suspension on Sunday, when Nowitzki will sit out the Mavericks' game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Nowitzki, a co-captain, tangled with Jazz forward Matt Harpring under the basket with about 10 minutes remaining in Friday's game. As they were separating Nowitzki flailed his right arm and caught Harpring squarely in the mouth.
