Gene Kennedy reporting Starting tomorrow, carry-on rules at Salt Lake International will be relaxed a bit. You will now be able to carry on some liquids and gels onto airplanes.
The government made that announcement earlier this morning at a news conference at Reagan National Airport. The change in restrictions will likely cut down on some of the delays as passengers head through security.
Starting tomorrow, you can bring drinks onto the airplanes. But you have to buy that at airport stores after you pass the security checkpoint.

For items like shampoos and lotions, you can bring those items on board, but they have to pass through security and they have to be in a clear plastic bag.
Ron Malind, TSA Security Director: "A passenger can use a one quart transparent baggie, and put as much liquid in there as they can, and still have the baggie close. But each individual container (inside the baggie) needs to be three ounces or less."
There are two exceptions to this rule: Baby formula, milk & baby food, as well as prescription medication.

Marshall Tanner, Passenger: "I feel fine with it. I had a bag full of stuff that American gave me on my international flight into Dallas, and it got confiscated. I hadn't even opened the package."
Colleen Tanner, Passenger: "I am sure that it is probably difficult to check everything. (question: So for you this is welcome news?) Yes, it makes traveling easier."
