SALT LAKE CITY — A paraglider died on Sunday after he crashed in Provo Canyon, prompting search and rescue efforts in attempt to save him.
The Utah County Sheriff's Office said the paraglider called for help at 6 p.m. after crash landing in a narrow ravine, which was located on the north side of the canyon near Mount Timpanogos.
"The area where the patient had crashed was very steep and high up on the mountains, requiring the assistance of two helicopters to search for him while a third staged to transport the patient," the sheriff's office said.

Eventually, the man was found and rescuers were able to reach him during a "very technical rescue," according to the sheriff's office.
"Despite the efforts of rescuers, the patient succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash," the sheriff's office said. "Utah County Sheriff Investigators, and personnel from the Utah Medical Examiner's Office were summoned to the scene for further investigation."
