A Murray family got an interesting surprise this morning when they learned they've had a cluster bomb in their house for 15 years.
David Lozer's son was watching a war history program when he saw a bomb that looked familiar. It turns out the cluster bomb featured on TV was similar to a piece of junk he'd seen lying around his dad's house.
Lozer said, "It was this round steel thing that kind of had funny-like things on it."
He took the object home 15 years ago when he found it inside a car on his used-car lot. His wife thought it looked cute so it stayed, bouncing from drawer to drawer, ending up on the patio.
The family had no idea it was part of a bomb until they looked it up on the Internet.
"When they explode, what's inside, the BBs or whatever's inside can travel up to 5,000 ft. So yeah, at that point we became quite upset," Lozer said.
Not knowing if the bomb was still active, the family called the Hill Air Force bomb squad to remove it, carefully!
