MURRAY — A man in his 50s was hospitalized after a confrontation led to a shooting near Wheeler Historic Farm Tuesday evening, the Murray Police Department said.
The suspect or suspects are still on the run, according to police.
Murray police spokeswoman Kristin Reardon said officers responded about 5:30 p.m. to a call of shots being fired within a group of people who were allegedly congregating near the northeast corner of the Wheeler Farm property.
"Upon arrival officers located a male, in his 50s, claiming that he had been in an altercation where shots were fired," said Reardon in an updated news release on Wednesday.
She said one person was taken to a hospital with injuries that did not appear life-threatening.
While Reardon said there is no current threat to the public, a brief shelter-in-place was initiated when police first responded to the incident.
Reardon said the incident appears to be isolated.
As of Wednesday afternoon, police had no one in custody. Reardon said it's unclear how many suspects may have been involved in the fight.
"Investigators are working to determine what led up to the altercation and who may have been involved," she said.
