WELLSVILLE, Cache County — One Cache Valley business is bringing the heat as the temperature outside drops.

Mountain Valley Heating and Air Conditioning owners have partnered with Lennox to bring brand new furnaces and cooling units to neighbors in Cache County.

"We started a charity this year called 'Feel the Love,'" said Tyson Hall, co-owner of Mountain Valley Heating and Air. "It's tragic when there's no heat in the house and it's negative 20 degrees here in Cache Valley."

On Monday, Hall and his crew installed two HVAC systems for neighbors in need: One in Wellsville and one in Logan. Three more installations are scheduled for nominated recipients later this week.

"Our recipients will receive $2,500 back in rebates and a 30% tax credit," Hall said.

Mary Disotell watched as technicians ripped out her furnace and replaced it with a new one, all for free.

"They told me this furnace was 25 years old," Disotell exclaimed. "That's so old. It hadn't worked for years. I remember when would have to come home from school, and we'd go sit in one bedroom and we'd put the space heaters on and we'd just all hang out in that bedroom, because it was just cold. This act of kindness will make a big difference."

Disotell is a single mom of three children who teaches at Bridgerland Police Academy. She has also worked as a Cache County sheriff's patrol deputy for six years.

"It's chaos, and the house has been so cold," Disotell said. "This is surreal. I keep thinking, 'Is this really happening?' People don't just gift me things. I'm very excited and thankful."

Those who nominated Disotell mentioned her military service and 13-month tour in Iraq.

Friends called her a "giver" who works hard to support others while never complaining about her own needs. The nomination form mentioned that Disotell took in her sister's children when they unexpectedly needed a home. Disotell also cared for her mother until she passed last March, after a battle with cancer.

"I took in my mom and took care of her through hospice, and she died at the end of March," Disotell said. "This home has been a shelter for those needing care and love."

And now it will be even more welcoming and warm.

"There's a lot of heaviness in this world. We started this charitable project to shine a light on goodness," Hall said. "We do care about each other. Communities are still communities, and we still want to help each other."

Mountain Valley Heating and Air received dozens of nominations. Owners still have 50 families who need a furnace replacement.

To raise money to help more families in need, owners have organized a charity dinner and silent auction featuring pianists from Keys on Main. Individual plates are $60. The event will take place on Oct. 13 at the Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan. Those who would like to sponsor a family may call (435) 453-5170.

The installations also include indoor coil systems for air conditioning in the summer.

"It's almost unlivable in the house, in the middle of the summer because it gets so hot," Disotell said. "We've never had AC. (I am) kind of emotional because it just seemed unreal."
