SALT LAKE CITY — Two local FBS teams have a bye this week, but that doesn't stop the fun.
No. 23 BYU kicks off the weekend with a Friday night home game against a struggling West Virginia team coming off back-to-back blowout performances. But will a change at QB for the Mountaineers give them a chance against an undefeated Cougars team?
And then another undefeated Big 12 team looks to stretch their record to 6-0 on the road against a Cincinnati team that is starting to piece things together. Can the Bearcats defend their home field against a Cyclones team that just lost their two starting corners?
Then there's the exciting game between Vanderbilt and Alabama. In a game that would traditionally be glossed over with the Crimson Tide's dominance over the years, Diego Pavia and the Commodores are anything but a pushover.
Kicking off at the same time is a Washington team looking to rebound from a loss to Ohio State on a road trip to Maryland against an undefeated Terrapins team. Maryland has been a solid team this season, but Washington has quietly had a successful season.
And then closing out the weekend is a spirited rivalry matchup between an undefeated Miami team going on the road to a Florida State team looking to bounce back from an upset loss last weekend. Do the Seminoles go with back-to-back losses? Does Miami prove itself as a top team in the country?
