SALT LAKE CITY — An intoxicated woman who was kicked off a plane at the Salt Lake City International Airport was arrested Thursday after allegedly assaulting a Delta employee.
Cody Sierra Marie Bryne, 31, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of sexual battery, assault, interfering with police and public intoxication.
Bryne was boarding a Delta Air Lines flight from Salt Lake City to Portland when she "refused to get out of the aisle on the airplane when asked multiple times (to move)," a police booking affidavit states. "When (she) did finally move, she used her shoulder to push a Delta employee into a seat."
At that point, the pilot had the woman removed from the plane.
"When the Delta employee tried to get (Bryne) off the plane, (she) stated she only had three beers and was not drunk. The Delta employee was able to smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from (her breath)," according to the affidavit.
As Bryne was being escorted off the plane, "she attempted to run past the Delta employee into a secure area of the airport. The employees were able to stop her. When she was stopped, she grabbed one of the Delta employees by the back of her neck, pushing the employee's head toward the ground. (She) also pulled the employee's hair," the affidavit alleges.
Bryne then inappropriately grabbed the female employee and ran toward the airport exit, police say.
"Officers were able to locate (Bryne) in the lobby of the airport trying to book a flight with another airline," according to the affidavit.
Bryne tried to pull away from the officers and resist arrest. It took two officers to hold her and place her in handcuffs, the officers wrote.
She denied assaulting the Delta employee but "did admit to drinking and being drunk earlier in the morning. (She) was unable to hold an intelligible conversation, had the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person, had difficulty following directions, and needed assistance with walking," the arrest report says.
