BEAVER — A Nevada woman accused of causing the death of a man by providing fentanyl was sentenced Monday to a year in jail.

Chelsea Martyn Wiley, 31, of Mesquite, was charged last November with negligent homicide, a class A misdemeanor, and accused of providing drugs to a man who later died of a fentanyl overdose.

Police found text messages from the man arranging a meeting in Mesquite to purchase fentanyl pills from Wiley, who claimed she has "really good ones" that are "way better than the last ones," charges state.

Wiley pleaded guilty to the charge in August and agreed to do a "full disclosure interview" regarding her involvement in drug distribution, including identifying individuals to whom she sold narcotics and others she knew who were distributing drugs, her plea agreement states. The agreement also dictated that she pay for and participate in a substance abuse evaluation and subsequent treatment.

During the sentencing hearing on Monday, Wiley's attorney Edrick Overson presented certificates of completion for "various treatment classes" that Wiley had completed while being incarcerated, court documents state. Wiley was sentenced to 364 days in jail, with credit given for the 274 days she has already served, and two years of probation post-release.
