ST. GEORGE — A school bus driver with the Washington County School District has been arrested and accused of possessing child sex abuse material.

Daniel Sterling Workman, 44, of St. George, was arrested Wednesday and charged Thursday in 5th District Court with 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

The investigation began in July when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip of possible child sex abuse material being uploaded.

"All together, over 100 images of suspected child sex abuse material were reported. A unique set of IP addresses were captured for the reported account. A unique phone number was also associated with the reported account and the reports were forwarded to the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children task force," according to a police booking affidavit.

Officers served a search warrant at Workman's home about 10:20 a.m. Wednesday.

"During a search of the Washington County residence, multiple electronic devices were recovered, including an Android device which matched the serial number associated with the one linked to the suspect account from the CyberTipline reports," the affidavit alleges. "Multiple other devices will be analyzed to search for additional evidence."

Police say Workman was employed with the Washington County School District as a bus driver. A spokesman for the district says Workman was fired following his arrest.
