LAYTON — A motorcyclist is dead after a crash between the motorcycle and a car on Thursday, police said.

The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. near 1600 North and Main Street, according to Sgt. Max Holbrook with the Layton Police Department.

Holbrook said the driver of the car stayed on scene and is cooperating with authorities. The area where the crash occurred was shut down until about 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Holbrook said he didn't want to speculate on what caused the crash, believing it could change as the investigation unfolds. No additional information about the motorcyclist was available as of Friday morning.
