CEDAR CITY — An 18-year-old Cedar City woman is recovering in the hospital after being struck by a car on Interstate 15 late Saturday night, authorities said.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden said the incident occurred about 10:44 p.m. on northbound I-15 near Kanarraville.

Roden said the woman was walking or standing in the rightmost lane of the roadway as a northbound car approached.

The driver of the vehicle, a silver Mercedes car, attempted to avoid hitting the woman, Roden said.
