SOUTH JORDAN — A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday in a crash in South Jordan, police said.

Just after 6 p.m., an SUV was attempting to turn left into a Smith's parking lot when it collided with a northbound motorcyclist at 10363 S. Redwood Road, said South Jordan police officer Shaun Becker.

The 31-year-old motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was soon transferred to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV had no injuries and was very cooperative with the investigation, police said. They also said there was no DUI activity involved in the crash, but police suspect speed played a role.

The South Valley Crash Team — which includes South Jordan, Herriman and Riverton police officers —continues to investigate what caused the crash.
