HUNTSVILLE, Weber County — A motorcyclist died Saturday after crashing his bike near Causey Reservoir.

The man, who is in his late 60s, was eastbound on Causey Road, which connects state Route 39 to Causey Reservoir, when he somehow crashed near the entrance of the Weber Memorial Campground, Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Sean Endsley said.

A passerby who came upon the crash saw that the man had severe head injuries and immediately called 911.

A medical helicopter was also dispatched, but the man was "beyond help," Endsley said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's name was not released, as deputies are working to identify next of kin.

Investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the crash, Endsley said, and the man was not wearing a helmet.

Endsley said the crash is a good reminder to "ride safe and drive safe," especially during the "100 Deadliest Days" of summer.
