A series of long-planned enhancements to Snow Canyon State Park is nearing completion to improve visitor flow and reduce congestion in one of Utah's most popular outdoor destinations.

Tucked within the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve, Snow Canyon State Park offers a mix of geology and desert beauty. The canyon cuts through layers of red and white Navajo sandstone at the edge of the Red Mountains. Ancient lava flow from the extinct Santa Clara Volcano also left behind black rock scenery.

According to the Utah State Parks website, Snow Canyon State Park hosted 994,800 visitors in 2024, making it one of Utah's top five most-visited state parks. Given Utah's tourism trends and recent park enhancements, it's likely the 2025 visitation numbers will match or exceed last year's total.

Park Manager Kristen Comella told St. George News the new park features include a new south entrance, multiple new parking areas, and improved access and safety throughout the park.

"Along with the construction of that south entrance station, a second incoming lane to the park was added," Comella said.
