KAYSVILLE — A cyclist was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle in Kaysville on Monday morning, according to police.

The collision occurred about 9 a.m. on the Denver and Rio Grande Western Rail Trail near Smith's Marketplace, at 1370 W. 200 North, Kaysville police said in a news release. The cyclist was hit while crossing 200 North on the trail, police spokeswoman Noelia Wallace told KSL.com.

Officers arrived to find a cyclist with abrasions and head trauma. The cyclist was airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical care, but the individual's condition was not shared.

Police have closed 200 North between Flint Street and Mountain Vistas Road while the incident is being investigated.

"This is still an ongoing investigation," the news release stated. "Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available. We appreciate the public's cooperation as we work to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident."
