COLUMBIA, S.C. — Freshman Joyce Edwards scored 22 points in her first women's NCAA Tournament game as No. 1 seed South Carolina powered to a 108-48 victory over Tennessee Tech on Friday. Edwards was named to the all-Southeastern Conference first team as she led the defending champions in scoring this season. She kept that up against the 16th-seeded Golden Eagles as the Gamecocks improved to 17-1 in their past four NCAAs.
