LOS ANGELES — Alyssa Thompson scored early in the second half and Angel City pulled into a 1-1 draw with rivals San Diego Wave on Sunday in the National Women's Soccer League season opener for both teams. Thompson scored from the corner of the box in the 54th minute. She led Angel City with five goals and seven assists last season. San Diego took the lead in the fifth minute on rookie Gia Corley's goal.
