KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Police continue investigating, urging anyone with information to contact them.

SANDY — A $21,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot a Sandy couple in their home nearly six years ago. The wife was killed and her husband was injured in the shooting.

At about 10 p.m. on March 12, 2019, Maureen Magdelena Fiore-Webster, 36, and her husband, Jeffrey Ward Webster, 38, had just arrived at their home at 916 E. 11190 South. As her husband was resetting the security system in their home, something drew Maureen to the sliding glass door leading to the backyard, according to police.

Fiore-Webster was then shot at close range through the glass door. She died before paramedics could get her to the hospital. Webster was also shot in the thigh but survived.

Officers were initially called to the house on a "glass break" burglar alarm. The first arriving officers found shotgun shells in the backyard and the rear sliding glass door was shattered, according to search warrants served in 2019. The police heard Webster screaming from inside the residence.

As of Monday, police have not made an arrest related to the shooting and are still looking for a possible motive. But Sandy Police Sgt. Greg Moffitt says the investigation has never turned into a "cold case."

"This is still a case that we're working — we have been since day one," he said.

Dozens of people have been questioned by detectives and have been eliminated as suspects, Moffitt said. The alleged gunman did not enter the house after the shooting and nothing was missing from the residence.

A $21,000 reward is now being offered by a group that wishes to remain anonymous. The hope is the money will prompt anyone with information about Fiore-Webster's killing to come forward.

Moffitt says anyone with information about the case is asked to call 801-568-INFO (4636). He said anonymous tips are also welcome.

"There's still victims in this. Family members would like to see some closure," he said.
