ADELAIDE, Australia — Jhonatan Narvaez of Ecuador has held on to his overnight lead on general classification to win the Tour Down Under cycle race as Australian sprint star Sam Welsford won the final stage for his third stage win of the tour. A crash about 1.4 kilometers (900 yards) from the finish of the 90-kilometer (55 miles) sixth stage split the peloton but Narvaez avoided trouble to win the first World Tour stage race of his career. He was runner-up in the Tour Down Under last year.
