The 18th-ranked Clemson Tigers will need to slow down SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings if they hope to secure a ninth ACC championship game win and a spot in the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff. Jennings made his first start as SMU's quarterback in last year's American Athletic Conference championship game after Preston Stone broke his left leg in the regular-season finale. Stone went into this season as the starter, but Jennings took over as QB1 in the fourth game. The Mustangs have won nine in a row since, averaging 40.8 points. Jennings has thrown for 2,746 yards with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing two-thirds of his passes. He's also the team's second-leading rusher with 344 yards and four TDs.
