VINEYARD — A Vineyard City Council seat is up for grabs after a councilwoman announced her resignation Wednesday.

Amber Rasmussen has been part of the City Council since 2022. A statement from the city said she chose to step down due to personal family changes.

"Serving on the City Council has been an incredible honor, and I am profoundly thankful for the trust the community has placed in me. My recent family circumstances have required me to prioritize my children and their well-being," Rasmussen said.

Those interested can submit applications to the city recorder's office. The council position will be filled through an appointment process, and the person will serve the remainder of Rasmussen's term, which ends December 2025.

"While this decision was difficult, I am confident the council will continue to lead Vineyard forward," Rasmussen said.

Those applying must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old at the time of the next municipal election, a registered voter in Vineyard and have been a resident of Vineyard for 12 consecutive months "immediately preceding the date of the election," the city statement said.

City leaders said they encourage the community "to participate in this important civic process." Applications for the vacant seat will be accepted through Nov. 15.

"We thank council member Rasmussen for her service on the City Council. We wish her and her family all the best during this time of transition," Mayor Julie Fullmer said.
