AMES, Iowa — Iowa State's Audi Crooks defied modest expectations for her freshman season to become one of the most dominant players in women's basketball. She was a unanimous pick as an All-Big 12 center and she erupted for 40 points against Maryland in the NCAA Tournament. She averaged 19.2 points per game and shot 58% from the floor. Her 635 points were a school freshman record. She also is one of the most popular athletes in her home state of Iowa. Not all the attention has been positive. She's received more than her share of abuse from commentors on social media, often targeting her physical build.
