PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Novell Inc. has canceled its 2009 BrainShare conference in Salt Lake City due to the economic downturn.
The annual conference was scheduled for March at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake. But Novell Spokesman Ian Bruce says the company's international and U.S. customers say they're under pressure to control travel expenses.
The Waltham, Mass.-based company has 1,200 workers in Provo.
Novell is considering holding a virtual conference in March or smaller-scale regional conferences.
About 5,500 people attended Brainshare earlier this year.
