MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The start of the game between No. 10 Miami and Ball State was delayed by about 2 1/2 hours because of lightning in the area. The game was scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and kicked off just shy of 6 p.m. Rain was in the forecast for the area around Hard Rock Stadium, though none had fallen when the first lightning delay was announced. A downpour eventually arrived and a second lightning delay started around 4:30 p.m. There were other delays around the Sunshine State on Saturday because of storms, which are common in Florida at this time of year.
