MILLCREEK — A person struck in a hit-and-run crash in Millcreek on Saturday morning has died, according to Unified police.

About 5:56 a.m., the victim was driving and struck a cat near 2300 East and 3051 South. The person exited the car to see if he or she could help the animal. While they were trying to give aid to the cat, another vehicle struck them and drove away, according to a statement from police.

The suspect vehicle "appears to be a truck with something in the back of the vehicle," said Unified Police Sgt. Aymee Race.

Police are asking anyone in the area who may have seen the incident to contact dispatch at 801-840-4000 and reference case #CO24-70166.
