SALT LAKE CITY — A man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after getting struck by a truck in Salt Lake City, police said.
The crash involving a truck and pedestrian happened at 1800 S. State about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. Salt Lake police said the 32-year-old pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
At 9 p.m., police said the man's injuries were no longer considered life-threatening, and he is expected to survive.
The driver of the truck is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
"Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives and officers believe the man was crossing the road against traffic when the driver of the truck struck him," said Salt Lake police detective Dalton Beebe.
Northbound traffic on State Street from 1900 South to Coatsville Avenue was closed for a time while police investigated the scene.
