WEST JORDAN — A suspect has been hospitalized after firing at officers and leading them on a pursuit while exchanging gunfire Friday, West Jordan police said.

Police were dispatched to a domestic violence call Friday in the area of 8700 S. 1300 West, West Jordan Police Sgt. Andrew Hercules said.

When police arrived at the scene an individual started shooting at police and fled in a vehicle, Hercules said.

Officers pursued the suspect who drove to an area near 9500 South. The suspect continued firing at police during the pursuit and officers fired back, said Hercules.

The suspect was transported to a hospital. Whether the person's injuries were suffered in the shooting is not yet confirmed and their condition is unknown, Hercules said.

A West Valley City police unit is investigating the shooting.
