FAIRFIELD, Utah County — The Utah County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident at a landfill in Fairfield that killed one person.

At about 5 a.m. Wednesday, two garbage semitrucks were side by side at the Intermountain Regional Landfill. One of the trucks had its dump trailer extended to unload garbage and was moving when it "hit a soft spot," causing the trailer to tip over, Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Garrett Dutson said.

The sheriff's office said the tipped-over trailer landed on the cab of the other truck, inflicting fatal injuries to the driver, a 60-year-old man from Lehi whose name has not been released.
