Sakoda, Collie named AP All-Americans

(KSL Sports) Louie Sakoda became the fourth Consensus All-American in Utah football history today when the Associated Press named him as its first-team kicker. Sakoda joins defensive tackle Luther Elliss (1994), offensive tackle Jordan Gross (2002) and defensive back Eric Weddle (2006) as Utah's Consensus All-Americans.

Sakoda is now a first-team kicker on four of the five All-America teams that comprise the consensus team: American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Walter Camp Foundation, Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the AP. The fifth team, the Sporting News, will be announced tomorrow.

Sakoda, Collie named AP All-Americans

BYU wide receiver Austin Collie was named 2nd Team All-American by the AP. Collie, who is contemplating skipping his senior season by declaring for the NFL draft, led the the nation in receiving yards this season. He had at least 100 yards receiving in 10 straight games, while catching 15 touchdowns on the season.

Sakoda was also named to the SI.com All-America team today as its first-team kicker. Teammates Robert Conley (OL) and Paul Kruger (DE) were recognized as honorable mention All-Americans by SI.com.
