EAGLE MOUNTAIN — An Eagle Mountain woman was charged Monday with whipping and beating her dog.

The 28-year-old woman is charged in 4th District Court with torture of a companion animal, a third-degree felony.

On April 3, the Utah County Sheriff's Office received a video taken by a concerned citizen about a possible animal abuse case. The 90-second clip shows the woman "whipping the dog with a horse whip, and stomping on the dog with her feet. The dog then moved, and (she) follows the dog and whips and stomps on the dog again. The dog is submissive and moves again, and a third time (she) whips and stomps on the dog," according to charging documents.

Court documents do not say what breed the dog is, but police note it weighs about 40 pounds.

When questioned by deputies, the woman admitted that "she lost her temper after the dog bit her," the charges state.
