SOUTH SALT LAKE — A person wanted in connection with a shooting on Thursday at a South Salt Lake TRAX station is in custody.

Utah Transit Authority police on Friday asked for the public's help identifying a man seen in a surveillance footage appearing to enter a UTA bus, wearing a hoodie and what appears to be a black ski mask that partially covers his chin. Police released a photo of the wanted person.

Monday, police announced that the person seen in the picture had turned himself in. That's when investigators discovered he is a teen, "so no other information about the individual will be released by UTA. The investigation into the incident continues," the department said.

Two men were shot during a dispute between three people on the tracks near the station at 188 W. 3900 South about 4 p.m. Thursday, UTA police said. At least one person fell on the tracks during the incident, Utah Transit Authority spokesman Carl Arky said.

As of Friday afternoon, one of the men remained hospitalized in critical condition, but Arky said he had been stabilized. The other gunshot victim had been released, after it was reported Thursday he was seriously injured in the shooting.

"It was down on the rails, it wasn't on a train, it wasn't on a platform, so we're grateful that everyone else was OK," Arky said.

After the shooting, a bus bridge was implemented between the Millcreek and Murray North stations.
