Utah fans have grabbed up thousands of tickets for this year's Sugar Bowl, but there are thousands remaining.
In all, the Huntsman Center has sold just under 14,000 tickets, many of them since tickets went on sale to the general public on Friday.
Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations Zack Lassiter doesn't know if the economy has figured into this year's sales, but he's sure the distance has. For Alabama fans, New Orleans is about a five-hour drive.
Lassiter expects some of them are buying the remaining tickets in Utah. In all, the school has an allotment of 17,500 tickets it needs to sell.
If you've already bought your tickets but haven't made travel plans yet, don't expect to find too many good "last minute" deals. New Orleans will be packed.
Convention and Visitors Bureau Spokesperson Kelly Shulz says rooms are available. Travel Web sites show most of those rooms going for $200 a night, and round-trip airfare is around $500 during the first week of January.
