OGDEN — The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is searching for information after two deer were killed illegally in Cache County.
Conservation officers are seeking any information on two mule deer who were killed and left to waste near Porcupine Reservoir. A press release from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources said it received a report from a concerned person who found dead deer near the reservoir boat ramp on Jan. 5.
Officers responded to the area and found carcasses of two mule deer, a doe and a yearling buck. Officers determined in their investigation both deer were killed after being shot multiple times with a .22-caliber gun.
Investigators believe the incident occurred between Jan. 2 and 5. There were no deer hunts taking place at the time in the area.
Anyone with information on this incident or any other wildlife-related crimes is asked to report it to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources by calling 800-662-3337, using the UTDWR Law Enforcement app, texting 847411 or online.
A reward may be given for information leading to prosecution of those responsible.
In 2023, officers confirmed a total of 1,056 wild animals and fish were illegally killed, valued over $619,000, the press release said.
