SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating a shooting in the Liberty Wells neighborhood that injured one man.

Salt Lake police said the investigation started just after 7:30 p.m. when officers received the report of a shooting near 180 E. Kensington Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a 40-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

The man was taken to a hospital with injuries that are did not appear life-threatening.

Detectives have determined multiple shots were fired by an unknown person or persons and at least one bullet hit a nearby house. Police said witnesses saw the suspect or suspects leave westbound on Kensington Avenue in a car.

Further details were not immediately available, but police said there does not appear to be an imminent danger to the community even though no arrests have been made yet. No description of the suspect or car has been released.
