NORTH LOGAN — A teenager from North Logan who was missing for a week has been found in Oregon, police say.

North Park police announced late Wednesday that Cayenne Beard, 17, was found alive in Oregon and officers are working to reunite her with her family.

Further details on her disappearance and why Cayenne was in Oregon were not released, but police did say she is safe.

"We appreciate the patience of the community and media in understanding this is an ongoing criminal investigation. As such specific details of the case cannot be released," a North Park police spokeswoman said in a prepared statement.

North Park Police Chief Kent Goodrich said the police department worked with several other Utah and Oregon law enforcement agencies and even had help from the FBI to find Cayenne.

"Without their collaboration, we would not have been able to exhaust the leads coming into the department that ultimately led to her safe return," Goodrich said.

"We cannot adequately express our gratitude to the men and women who have tirelessly been working on this case," Goodrich said. "While we are a small department, our investigative team followed every lead and worked to leverage all available resources to locate her."

Cayenne's parents said she went to bed on Dec. 11, but the next morning she was nowhere to be found and the back door was unlocked.

Her father Mike Weber said nothing out of the ordinary occurred the night before she left. Her mother Eva Weber said because Cayenne's medication was still at home, she believed Cayenne meant to return home but she never did.

Cayenne was spotted in downtown Salt Lake City on the morning of Dec. 12, according to the North Park Police Department. North Logan police posted on social media about her absence on Dec. 14, saying she was possibly endangered.

On Monday, North Park detectives told KSL-TV they suspected Cayenne left willingly with someone she was communicating with over the phone.

Police said Cayenne had two phones, a personal phone that she left at home and a burner phone that she took with her. They discovered she was in contact with an unknown number that may have been connected to her disappearance.

Correction: A previous version incorrectly indicated Cayenne was from North Park, but North Park is the police jurisdiction over North Logan and Hyde Park.
