PROVO — Bingham girls basketball kicked off the 2023-24 season with a strong 69-51 win over Timpview.

The Miners brought their A-game Thursday night and took down the Thunderbirds one basket at a time.

The first quarter started out as a close contest for the teams as Bingham controlled a 16-13 lead, but the Miners set the tone and took control in the second quarter. Bingham outscored Timpview 17-9 in the quarter to grow its lead and put pressure on the home team.

Timpview attempted a comeback after the halftime break with a 15-14 push in the third quarter.

The effort, although strong until the end, wasn't quite enough for the Thunderbirds, though. The Miners closed out the game with a 22-point fourth quarter — 12 of those points came from four of the team's overall 10 made 3-pointers on the night for Bingham.

"We put a big focus on not being the best on the team but the best for the team in whatever role we asked them to do," Bingham head coach Skyler Beard said. "And that's what we saw tonight; it was fantastic."
