OGDEN — A car crash and downed power lines along state Route 39 prompted officials to shut down Ogden Canyon Wednesday afternoon.

A Utah Highway Patrol trooper said a pickup truck driver was driving distracted for "an unknown reason" and hit a power pole just before 3 p.m.

UHP said the power pole fell and knocked another pole down, causing power lines to be draped across the road. Shortly after, a transformer blew.

Rocky Mountain Power crews are on the scene working to get the power fixed.

Officials said there have been no reported injuries. The driver was cooperative with the investigation and cited for a minor traffic infraction.

The canyon was shut down in both directions, the Utah Department of Transportation said. The roads are anticipated to stay closed through about 8 p.m.
