ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) -- A Utah company is planning to erect more than 200 wind turbines on White Mountain in Sweetwater County.
White Mountain is a popular scenic recreation area northwest of Rock Springs and north and east of the city of Green River.
The project would be located on 13,140 acres of federal, state and private lands on White Mountain.
Tasco Engineering Inc. of Lehi, Utah, was granted a conditional-use permit by the county last summer to install 36 turbines on top of White Mountain.
Tasco President Gary Tassainer said the company is seeking to expand that project.
Some local residents say the proposal is too big.
