CEDAR CITY — Top-seeded Beaver ended its already successful season with the UHSAA trophy in hand after a 28-6 victory over Enterprise Saturday.

Beaver opened up the game with the ball and took half of the first quarter to finish its drive, which was capped off by a Kutlur Matheson receiving touchdown from a Bodie Wheatley pass.

Enterprise fumbled a snap with less than a minute to go in the first quarter, and Beaver's Tavyn Hollingshead capitalized on the play with a rushing touchdown to give the Beavers an early two-score lead.

Defense was the name of the game in the second quarter as both teams showed their toughness to combine for a scoreless quarter. In total, the ball changed hands 10 times in the first half.

"I think our defense played really well," Beavers defensive coordinator Steve Hutchings said. "(The Wolves) are bigger than us and they outweigh us in every position. I thought it was fantastic."

Though Enterprise started the second half with the ball, the Wolves fumbled agains and gave the Beavers the ball right away. Once again, Hollingshead carried the ball in for his second touchdown of the afternoon to build upon Beaver's lead.

Wolves quarterback Ryker Phillips got in on the action with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter, taking it into the end zone himself for the team's only score.

The Wolves hoped to get in the end zone again with good field position, but three consecutive false start penalties and a fourth-down sack put an end to the drive. Beaver then went the length of the field to land the knockout punch.

"These kids have worked hard all year to get better every week," Hutchings said. "They fought really hard today."
