TAYLORSVILLE — A second person has died after a single-vehicle crash that briefly closed southbound Bangerter Highway in Taylorsville on Thursday morning.

Keith Shosted, 82, and his wife, Patricia Shosted, 82, were taken to the hospital in critical condition following the crash. Keith Shosted died shortly after arriving at the hospital Thursday. Police announced on Saturday that Patricia Shosted died Friday evening.

The crash occurred about 9:45 a.m. near 5300 South. Keith Shosted was driving south when his vehicle struck a cement barrier, Taylorsville police said in a news release. He and his wife, who was a passenger, were both extricated from the vehicle and taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Southbound lanes of Bangerter Highway were closed while police investigated the scene but reopened shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
