HOOPER, Weber County — A woman has been arrested and accused of shooting her boyfriend in Hooper.
Leeann Mikea Comish, 40, was booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation of attempted murder, possession of a weapon by a restricted person, drug possession, marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and firing a gun within city limits.
Just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, Weber County sheriff's deputies were called to a home near 6200 West and 5700 South after Comish "called 911 stating that she had shot her boyfriend," according to a police booking affidavit. A second 911 call was received about the same time by one of the victim's relatives.
When deputies arrived, they found a 43-year-old man "laying in the kitchen suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Medical aid was rendered and the male was transported to the hospital" in critical condition, police said.
The man's mother told deputies that she had finished handing out candy to trick-or-treaters and was going to bed while her son and Comish were going to the backyard.
"The mother was then later woken up by a big 'explosion.' She then heard her son pounding on the back door. The mother opened the back door and her son was pleading for help and told his mom that 'she shot me.' The mother was too distraught to work her phone's keypad so she called her daughter for help. Her daughter and deputies arrived and tended to her son," the affidavit states.
Investigators recovered a gun from the scene and found methamphetamine and syringes on Comish, according to the affidavit. She declined to be questioned by detectives and was arrested.
