PARIS — New Zealand captain Sam Cane has become the first player to be red-carded in a Rugby World Cup final. Cane led with his shoulder into the face of South Africa's Jesse Kriel in the 29th minute in Paris. He was yellow-carded by referee Wayne Barnes. But a bunker review upgraded the card to red six minutes later. The only previous card in a World Cup final was a yellow for All Black Ben Smith in 2015. But the first final in the professional era between rugby's greatest teams produced not just Cane's red card but three more yellows. They were issued to All Blacks flanker Shannon Frizell and Springboks captain Siya Kolisi and Cheslin Kolbe, who finished the match in the sin-bin.
