DRAPER — With a strong start out of the gate, Corner Canyon took down Bingham in a 38-3 blowout Friday night.
Within the first three minutes, Chargers quarterback Isaac Wilson connected with Brayden Eyre for a 22-yard touchdown. And Corner Canyon kept that momentum going with a 10-yard rushing touchdown from Wilson for the early 14-0 lead.
Before the first quarter came to an end, Chargers running back Bryton Brady got the third touchdown of the night on a 27-yard rush.
"We start out fast; we play fast," Brady said. "It starts with all of us, and I think it's a good mentality to have."
Bingham's offense managed its first, first down of the night when Carson Sudbury ran the ball to move the chains going into the second quarter. This, accompanied with a 32-yard rush by Triston Brimhall, gave the Miners just enough for the opportunity to score.
But after being held out of the end zone near the goal line, Bingham settled for a 32-yard field goal for the team's first, and only, points of the night.
Corner Canyon's Wilson continued to consistently move the ball down field during the rest of the first half and was able to connect with Boston Snow for a 6-yard passing touchdown to take a 28-3 lead.
On the ensuing possession for the Miners, the offense managed some good movement, but Corner Canyon's Seth Carlsen ended the drive with an interception that put the Chargers on their one 2-yard line.
Bingham's defense successfully held Corner Canyon on the Miners' 3-yard line to force a 20-yard field goal, but the Chargers still led 31-3 going into the fourth quarter. Wilson connected with Brady one last time in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard touchdown pass to closeout the game with a 38-3 win.
"I feel like our defense played so tough tonight. Wide receivers were on point," Wilson said. "The whole (offensive line) was kicking butt."
Regular season play will come to an end next week with Corner Canyon welcoming Herriman to Draper. Bingham will be back in South Jordan to take on Mountain Ridge.
