UNCASVILLE. Conn. — Breanna Stewart had 25 points and 11 rebounds, and the New York Liberty beat the Connecticut Sun 92-81 to take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five WNBA semifinal series. Betnijah Laney scored 20 points, Sabrina Ionescu had 16 and Courtney Vandersloot added 12 for New York, which never trailed. The Liberty can close out the series Sunday at Connecticut. Alyssa Thomas finished one rebound shy of her seventh triple-double of the season for Connecticut, finishing with 23 points and 14 assists. The Liberty lost Game 1, their first defeat against the Sun this season, but bounced back with two straight wins.
