ST. GEORGE — Formal charges have been filed against a Hurricane man accused of shooting and killing another man at a bar because he was allegedly angry about being kicked out.

Bryan Edwin Hill, 55, was charged Monday in Utah's 5th District Court with aggravated murder and discharge of a firearm causing serious injury, first-degree felonies; using a concealed weapon in the commission of a violent crime, a second-degree felony; aggravated assault, a third-degree felony; and DUI, a class B misdemeanor.

On Friday at about 11 p.m., Hurricane police responded to a report of shots fired at the Eagles Lodge, 495 E. 800 North. Sean Moore, 41, of Hurricane, was shot and killed. Multiple witnesses told police that Hill was the shooter and that he left the club before officers arrived.

The Washington County Metro SWAT team went to Hill's residence and arrested him. Officers noted in a police booking affidavit that he showed several signs of being very impaired when he was taken into custody.

When questioned by detectives, Hill "changed the details of his story numerous times," the affidavit notes. "While Bryan was being interviewed, detectives at the incident located surveillance footage of the shooting. When the footage was reviewed, detectives learned what occurred was very different that was Bryan was describing."

Witnesses told investigators that Moore was enjoying a night of karaoke with friends, while Hill "was being belligerent and escalating in anger," the affidavit states. "The victim then interceded to remove Bryan from the bar, at which point Bryan shot him."

When reviewing surveillance video, "the victim is seen pushing Bryan out of the door to the business. Shortly after getting outside Bryan pulled a firearm from his waistband area and fired at least once at the victim who immediately reacted and fell backwards," police noted.

"The saddest part about this whole thing is he was trying to be a peacemaker," said Matt Hairschi, Moore's friend who coached a girls softball team with him. "He was just trying to make sure everybody had a good evening. That's what he did. He was just wanted everybody to be happy."

Moore is survived by his wife and three daughters. A GoFundMe* webpage was set up to help the family.
