SALT LAKE CITY — A 45-year-old man was critically injured after he was struck by an SUV while biking on Thursday morning, Salt Lake police said.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Guardsman Way and Sunnyside Avenue around 7:51 a.m., according to a news release from the police department.
Investigators believe the man was riding west on Sunnyside Avenue when he was struck by an SUV that was turning northbound onto Guardsman Way, based on preliminary evidence.
Firefighters gave life-saving aid to the cyclist, who was later taken to a local hospital via ambulance.
Police said the driver, a 64-year-old woman, remained on scene and has been cooperating.
The investigation is still ongoing, and police have not yet released more information about the cyclist or the driver.
