HURRICANE, Washington County — Wildland firefighters were in the "mop-up" stage Tuesday for a fire that at one point threatened dozens of southern Utah homes and outbuildings.
The Dixie Springs Fire near Hurricane and Sand Hollow Reservoir burned 614 acres of mostly grass and at one point threatened more than 50 structures due to high wind, according to Utah Wildfire Info. No homes were evacuated and no structures were damaged.
The fire is believed to be human-caused, according to a spokesman for the Bureau of Land Management Color County bureau. Additional details on the fire's origin were not immediately available.
State Route 7 was closed between mileposts 23 and 26 near Hurricane due to the fire Monday night.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene including two air tankers.
