(KSL News) An arsonist may be making the rounds in Cottonwood Heights. Firefighters say someone intentionally set three small fires around 3 a.m. on Friday.
Two garbage cans were set on fire near 3500 East and Brighton Point Drive (7465 South).
Someone also set a chair that was left outside on fire. The blaze near 7800 South and Chadbourne Drive (7970 South) quickly spread to a nearby garage. The fire caused about $5,000 in damage.
Fire investigators say evidence found at the scenes indicates that all three fires are related. "Unified Fire Authority investigators, since September, have investigated approximately 20 fires in this general area, all similar in nature. They've occurred on the outside of structures," said UFA's Capt. Wade Russell.
Russell says, so far, there are no suspects.
