SALT LAKE CITY — A registered sex offender is in trouble again after investigators say he was caught downloading child pornography and accessing it on a computer issued by the halfway house he resided, and was secretly seeing a woman with young children.

Miles Brent Blakeley, 33, was charged Thursday in 3rd District Court with sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

In November, while Blakeley was a resident at the Bonneville Community Correctional Center, 1141 S. 2475 West, investigators received a tip that a video file attached to Blakeley's Google account contained child pornography, according to charging documents. Investigators say he accessed his Gmail account using a computer at the correctional center.

Two phone numbers were associated with the account, neither of which Blakeley had reported as required as part of his parole, the charges state.

Investigators decided to keep surveillance on Blakeley "and it was found that he was meeting a person … around the corner from (Bonneville Community Correctional Center) and she was driving him to various locations, including to her home," according to the charges.

Police said they learned that Blakeley was in a relationship with the woman, who had several children living with her. Not having contact with children is another requirement of Blakeley's parole.

Investigators also tracked one of the phone numbers that was listed with Blakeley's email account and learned that he was turning it off while at the corrections facility, but "was using it selectively when at work and other locations," the charges state.

Blakeley was arrested in January and his phone was seized for analysis. On the phone, investigators found "multiple pictures of himself and children on his phone and in his Google account. These pictures included Blakeley in bed with a child and many photos of bathing children and children in diapers," the charges allege.

Blakeley said he had become close to the woman's children, particularly her young daughter who viewed him as father figure, the charges say.

Blakeley, who is on the Utah Sex Offender and Kidnap Registry, has been convicted of multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in 2014 and 2016 and voyeurism in 2016.
